Due to the development of the pandemic and the fear of new coronavirus mutations, new protective measures restricting travel have been enacted by the Ministry of Health that will come into force on Friday, February 5, 2021.

The so-called travel traffic light of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will be extended by a group of countries where the risk of infection is very high from Friday 5 February. These countries will be marked dark red on the safety guidelines.

The travel safety colours are as of Friday as follows:

  • Green colour: Travel is permitted without any restrictions

  • Orange colour: Travel is allowed only after passing an antigen or PCR test before the trip. The test must not be older than 48 hours.
  • Red colour: Travel is allowed only after passing an antigen or a PCR test before the trip. The test must not be older than 48 hours. Travelers must take a PCR test no later than five days after arrival and report the result immediately to the competent health authority.
  • New dark red colour: Travel is allowed only after passing a PCR test before the trip. The test must not be older than 48 hours. Travelers must take a PCR test no later than five days after arrival and report the result immediately to the competent health authority. Upon arrival, a mandatory five-day quarantine applies, with the option of completing another PCR test on day 5 at the earliest. The obligation to wear a respirator of at least FFP2 level for 10 days from arrival also applies.
